In Kindergarten we focus on learning important skills and practice and master crucial academic concepts so that we can successfully transition to 1st Grade.
Language Skills incorporate reading, writing, speaking & listening. Subcategories would be: phonics, phonemic awareness, comprehension, fluency and vocabulary.
Math Skills incorporate knowledge of numbers, numerals, shapes, patterns, coins and coin value, counting, telling time, addition and subtraction algebraic functions, etc.
Science and Social Studies use students' background knowledge to further develop their understanding of:
Scientific processes & concepts
Self, family and community
All the above work hand in hand with the Life & Social Skills that we learn each day.
